Timeline and Budget

We anticipate that repairs will be done over a minimum of a 5-year workplan that is accomplished through a series of contracts with specialised contractors qualified to carry out the necessary work. The timeline is tentative and depends upon the availability of funding and the receipt of necessary permits and approvals.

Within the £400,000 budget there is no allowance for construction price escalation – the price base year is 2026. The work is hard to price accurately because it requires specialist contractors, experienced in work on listed buildings. Other complicating factors include difficult access for construction equipment, limited working space, the fact that we do not yet have detailed drawings, specifications and quantities for most of the work and the likelihood of encountering hidden problems within the building fabric that need to be addressed as they are found.

Funding

At the start of 2026 we are fortunate to have a bank balance that is more than sufficient to allow for our first project (Install WC and path lighting) to proceed. We are optimistic that with the right approach to fundraising and taking every opportunity for grants, we will be able to achieve a key objective of making the church watertight by the end of 2027.

In order to reach our overall target of £400,000 will need a big push over the next few years. This will also allow us to get the structure stabilised and make the internal and external repairs that are needed.
